North Putnam is 1-8 against Parke Heritage since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Cougars will challenge the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, North Putnam turned things around against Western Boone on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Stars. The Cougars not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10th (when they won 7-1).
Owen Thurman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Griffen Starr was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of North Putnam's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Braxton Woodall, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Putnam kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Parke Heritage came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Bison.
Renn Harper made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Harper was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Harper wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lewie Woody, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Parke Heritage pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for North Putnam, their win bumped their record up to 10-14.
