Liberty Ranch has gone 9-1 against Galt recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Hawks will host the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Liberty Ranch has nine straight wins, Galt has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Liberty Ranch made easy work of Bradshaw Christian and carried off an 8-1 victory. Considering the Hawks have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Laura Quinn looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Liberty Ranch got a big performance out of Khali Barrantes, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Barrantes' first of the season. Xiana Juarez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Liberty Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Galt didn't have quite enough to beat Union Mine on Tuesday and fell 2-1.
Lexi Maldonado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
Liberty Ranch pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Galt, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.
Galt's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Liberty Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. It's a different story for Galt, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Liberty Ranch's hitters?
Liberty Ranch took their win against Galt in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 30-0 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
