Given Fairfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington is ranked 477th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fairfield can attribute much of their success to Gabe Fouch, who scored 18 points along with 4 steals. Larkin Friend was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
West Union's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Fairfield, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
