Basketball Recap: Riley Phelps Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Coal Ridge

Weld Central picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against the Coal Ridge Titans by a score of 42-33.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Weld Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Phelps, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Phelps is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Tegan Huwa was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Weld Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Coal Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Weld Central will be playing at home against Roaring Fork at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roaring Fork will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Weld Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for Coal Ridge, they will take on Peak to Peak in a tournament on Thursday.
