Avery Malenfant tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wolcott got a big performance out of Jaelyn Belval, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Sinclair, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Wolcott always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.
Waterbury Career Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Wolcott, their record now sits at 9-4.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Waterbury Career Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Wolcott struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
