Basketball Recap: Seymour Has No Trouble Against Woodland Regional

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Seymour walked away with it. They blew past the Woodland Regional Hawks 56-32 on Thursday. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 24 points or more this season.

Seymour found their leader in sophomore Viktoria Michalczyk, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 19 points along with six assists and three steals. Those 60% field goal percentage gave Michalczyk a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Cunningham, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards.

Seymour was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They are 19-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Seymour is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points over those games. The loss snapped Woodland Regional's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Seymour Wildcats take on Bacon Academy Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Bacon Academy sitting on ten straight victories and Seymour on three. Woodland Regional does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
