Baseball Game Preview: Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool vs. Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool and Good Samaritan HomeSchool are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool will head out on the road to square off against Good Samaritan HomeSchool at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool made easy work of Christian Academy of Louisiana and carried off a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Good Samaritan HomeSchool had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Faith Training Christian Academy 11-9.

Eshton Pedraza made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-3. Good Samaritan HomeSchool is undefeated when Pedraza posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lane Bounds, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. Cooper Binagia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Good Samaritan HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
