The Elizabeth Cardinals will be playing at home against the Coronado Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Elizabeth pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 78-62 fall against Sierra. While losing is never fun, Elizabeth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Sierra is ranked 91st).
Ethan Stone put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Connelley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Elizabeth were working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Coronado suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-42 loss at the hands of Palmer. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coronado in their matchups with Palmer: they've now lost five in a row.
Elizabeth dropped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
