The Cottondale Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cottondale had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Ponce De Leon on Monday. Cottondale put the hurt on Ponce De Leon with a sharp 15-4 win.
Jaydon Gray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cottondale got a massive performance out of Alex Bellamy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Bellamy is becoming a predictor of Cottondale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Conner Barton, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Cottondale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Christian Academy of Knoxville got themselves on the board against Sneads on Monday, but Sneads never followed suit. They blew past the Pirates 10-0.
The team relied heavily on Brody Waller, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Will Kingery also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Cottondale has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Christian Academy of Knoxville's record is now 8-2-1.
Cottondale's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. Cottondale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Christian Academy of Knoxville, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cottondale continue to outrun the ball? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
