The Lee County Yellow Jackets will take on the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee County has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Lee County after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 12-6 to Green Level. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lee County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alston Beal, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Gavin Swann, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Southern Lee made sure to put some runs up on the board against Green Level on Monday. The Cavaliers blew past the Gators 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ben Harrington and Bryan McCollum were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Harrington tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, McCollum tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Harrington went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while McCollum went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs McCollum has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Faulk, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Cooper Moss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Southern Lee's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Lee County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Lee County was able to grind out a solid victory over Southern Lee when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Do the Yellow Jackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
