The Cornell Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 50-35 to Western Beaver. Cornell was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Western Beaver apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Western Beaver's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jon Backur, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Backur has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Schwarz, who scored 14 points.
Cornell dropped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Western Beaver, their victory bumped their record up to 5-16.
Cornell will look to defend their home court on Friday against Carlynton at 7:30 p.m. As for Western Beaver, they will head out on the road to face off against Rochester at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rochester will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Western Beaver surely won't give up without a fight.
