After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pope Francis Prep, Springfield Renaissance was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers with a sharp 21-13 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for Springfield Renaissance as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jocelyn Pena made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and ten unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
