The Trico Pioneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Salem, falling 65-26. Trico lost against Salem in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 43-27 score last time.
Leading Salem to victory were Gavin Zimmermann and Connor Tennyson. Zimmermann scored 16 points along with six rebounds, while Tennyson scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Zimmermann's third in a row with at least ten points. Sam Greene was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Trico's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Salem, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trico's road trip will continue as they head out to face Christopher at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd. As for Salem, they will square off against Mt. Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Vernon will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
