The Portal Panthers posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 74-43 win over Montgomery County. Given Portal's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Montgomery County is ranked 436th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Portal's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amir Jackson, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Elijah Coleman, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Portal and bumps their season record up to 13-1. As for Montgomery County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portal won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Vidalia at 5:30 p.m. on January 13th. Vidalia will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Montgomery County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jenkins County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
