Valley View extended the longest winning streak in Lackawanna 1 this week by beating East Stroudsburg North, 48-13. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Scranton was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Knights defeated Scranton Prep 43-21 earlier in the week.
Scranton's dynamic duo of Marlinn Waiters and Karlon Quiller proved tough for the Cavaliers/Classics to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Waiters threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns and Quiller had 168 yards receiving. Jim McNally helped Scranton's passing attack out by catching two balls for 29 yards.
Dante Pasqualichio provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Abington Heights fell to Delaware Valley. He completed 20 passes for 225 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 11 yards. Pasqualichio's favorite target this week was Nathan Hollander, who caught nine passes for 113 yards.
Marquis Brownlee was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 219 yards as West Scranton bested Scranton Prep. Demitris Garcia also contributed to the rushing game with 70 yards on the ground.
The Warriors' Bryan Schor and Lucas Markowitz have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Lackawanna 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Schor has thrown for 1002 yards this season, while Markowitz, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 16 catches for 333 yards. Jake McCarthy from the Knights leads the league in rushing with 661 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Valley View takes on second place Scranton. Valley View topped the Timberwolves last week, while Scranton bested Nick Donato's team.
The Knights were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Cavaliers/Classics 43-21. Scranton came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
