The team relied heavily on Makayla Chester, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Amaris Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Carlsbad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Hobbs made easy work of Clovis on Tuesday and carried off a 13-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Karyssa Sigala was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hobbs got a massive performance out of Jaquelynn Fuentez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Fuentez's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Allison Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Carlsbad's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Hobbs, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carlsbad hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Hobbs struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
