After flying high against the Clarkdale Bulldogs last Tuesday, the Newton Tigers came back down to earth. The game between Newton and Quitman wasn't particularly close, with Newton falling 58-43. It was the first time this season that Newton let down their fans at home.
Among those leading the charge was KIARRA THOMPSON, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of AUDRIANA HARRIS, who scored 12 points.
Newton's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-4. As for Quitman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Newton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lake at 6:00 p.m. Lake is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Quitman, they will head out on the road to face off against Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Quitman is ranked 16th).
