The Warren Warriors pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holmes. If Warren hoped to take revenge for the 74-58 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the defeat, Warren saw an underclassman step up: Devin Petersen scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks. Nickolai Ochoa was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Even though they lost, Warren were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holmes only racked up 11 assists.
Leading Holmes to victory were Omi Poblano and Amare Guerra. Poblano scored 15 points along with five steals, while Guerra scored 29 points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Joseph Ramon, who scored nine points.
Warren has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season. As for Holmes, their victory bumped their record up to 10-15.
Warren will head out on the road to square off against Jay at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Jay's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 contests. As for Holmes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stevens at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
