Linfield Christian put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over the Temecula Valley Golden Bears. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golden Bears, too.
Celeste Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Linfield Christian got a massive performance out of Caden Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Cabrera, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Johnson wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Linfield Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Linfield Christian's record is now 3-0. As for Temecula Valley, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Looking ahead, Linfield Christian will challenge Santa Rosa Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Temecula Valley, they will face off against Arroyo Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Temecula Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Arroyo Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
