St. Helena is 8-2 against Lower Lake since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Saints will venture away from home to square off against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Helena has six straight victories, Lower Lake has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
St. Helena's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Middletown 10-0. Considering the Saints have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ada Blanton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Blanton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie Carmichael, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emily Glakeler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
St. Helena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Lower Lake lost 9-1 to Middletown on Friday.
Lower Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leanna Ortega, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
St. Helena pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lower Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Lower Lake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Helena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. It's a different story for Lower Lake, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain St. Helena's hitters?
Everything went St. Helena's way against Lower Lake when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as St. Helena made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
