If the University Wildcats were riding high off their 57-20 takedown of the E EF Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. University took a 73-58 bruising from Venice on Friday. University has struggled against Venice recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why University lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ian Uriarte. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Uriarte has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasir Ledwith, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
University has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Venice, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University and Palisades will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Venice, they will head out on the road to challenge Campbell Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
