Panguitch and Bryce Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but not for long. The Panguitch Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Bryce Valley Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Panguitch is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Panguitch didn't have too much trouble with El Capitan/Centennial Academy at home as they won 54-40. Given Panguitch's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 14th in Utah, while El Capitan/Centennial Academy is ranked 101st in Arizona), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Panguitch's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Daxton Miller, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Cache Eyre, who scored 22 points. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Miller. Justin Osburn was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 82-33, which was the final score in Bryce Valley's tilt against Kanab on Thursday. Bryce Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-17.
Panguitch's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Bryce Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Everything came up roses for Panguitch against Bryce Valley when the teams last played back in February as the team secured a 73-24 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panguitch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
