After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Michael Catholic, the Chickasaw Chieftains were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They snuck past Bryant with a 60-55 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Chickasaw found their leader in underclassman Sydrus Gilmore, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The contest was Gilmore's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was JaVon Mose, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Chickasaw pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Bryant, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chickasaw will face off against Satsuma at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Satsuma comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Bryant won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mobile Christian at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Mobile Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.4 points per game.
