The Wewoka Tigers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 72-54 fall against Dale on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wewoka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Dale is ranked second).
Wewoka's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Timber Carter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Carter hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Awtumn Sipes-Louie, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
Wewoka's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4. As for Dale, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Wewoka will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Prague at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dale's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bethel at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th.
