On Sunday, Link Academy came up short against Whitney Young and fell 53-41. Link Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leading Whitney Young to victory were Kiaya Johnson and Destiny Jackson. Johnson scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals, while Jackson scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Jackson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Jackson, who scored seven points.
Link Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Whitney Young, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Link Academy will take on Hickman at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th. Whitney Young won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lincoln Park at 5:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Lincoln Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 529th, while Whitney Young is ranked 19th).
