It was a good run, but the Wooster Colts unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They suffered a rough 66-45 defeat at the hands of Hug. Wooster was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hug apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Loss or not, Wooster got some senior leadership from Jared Marquicias and Jamal Gaitor. Marquicias scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Gaitor. scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Marquicias has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Brandon Rodriguez Reynoso was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Hug's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Koul, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 22 rebounds. Koul is crushing the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Herbert, who scored 20 points.
Wooster's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Hug, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9.
Wooster will face off against Hug at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Hug's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches. As for they, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wooster at 7:30 p.m. Hug has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 515 points over their last seven matches.
