The Carver Challengers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Tilden by a score of 44-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Carver also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Astarte Washington was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Ontiveros, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Tilden saw an underclassman step up: Antonella Villegas-Sarmiento scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Villegas-Sarmiento scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Ruiz, who scored six points.
Carver pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Tilden, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver will challenge Catalyst-Maria at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Catalyst-Maria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Carver is ranked 135th). As for Tilden, they will head out on the road to face off against Little Village at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Little Village: 20.3, Tilden: 14.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
