If the Unity Reed Lions were feeling good off their 47-0 takedown of the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Unity Reed took a serious blow against Gainesville on Friday, falling 45-8. Having soared to a lofty 47 points in the game before, Unity Reed couldn't push the score so high this time.
It was another big night for Colton Kilmer, who threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Aidan McClafferty, who picked up 161 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Gainesville's defense and their four sacks. Aidan Washington was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Unity Reed bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.3 points per game. As for Gainesville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Unity Reed does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gainesville will head out on the road to face off against Colonial Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Colonial Forge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
