MaxPreps has endeavored to collect every all-league football team in the country this year and in doing so, we found out some interesting things about all-league teams. For one, they are called something different in each state. In California they are called all-league teams, but in other states they are all-district teams or all-region or all-conference. For the sake of brevity, we’re going to call all of them “all-league” teams.
Another interesting thing we discovered is that not all states have “all-league” teams. Alabama and Florida rely more on the local media to select “all-area” or “all-county” teams rather than have the coaches select an all-league team, however some districts within those two states do select an all-district team.
We’ve been able to collect over 1,000 all-league teams. We present them here, along with some of the “all-area” teams we’ve found in various newspapers across the country. The all-league teams can be found when the “ALL-LEAGUE TEAMS” link is highlighted. Here are 26 states (including District of Columbia). We’ll add the remaining 25 over the next week with a couple of states each day. Check back each day to see which states have been added.
