Gladewater moved up to 205 from 328 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bears were able to move up by topping Spring Hill 41-10.
The Panthers' dynamic duo of Jacob Rooney and James Wallis proved tough for Gladewater to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rooney threw for 253 yards and 1 touchdown and Wallis had 135 yards receiving. Michael Spurrier helped Spring Hill's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 61 yards.
Gilmer's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Buckeyes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tanner Barr has thrown for 1,646 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, while Desmond Pollard has 24 catches for 518 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Kilgore takes on Chapel Hill. The Bulldogs are currently in first, while the Bulldogs are in fourth.
Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A Region II District 16 this week, Gilmer beat Chapel Hill 56-28. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
