River Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Homer-Center Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Central Cambria scored an imposing 56 points on Monday, River Valley still came out on top. River Valley walked away with a 69-56 victory over Central Cambria. That's two games straight that River Valley has won by exactly 13 points.
River Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Woodring, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jayden Whitfield was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Homer-Center scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against United by a score of 70-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
River Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Homer-Center, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.
Everything went River Valley's way against Homer-Center when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as River Valley made off with a 67-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for River Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
