After two games on the road, Bethune is heading back home. They will take on the Arickaree Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bethune comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Bethune struggled with assists on Friday (Hanover had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bethune was outmatched by Hanover on the road and fell 56-22. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bethune has scored all season.
Ty Morris was Bethune's leading scorer, having posted nine points.
Josh Salinas took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Meanwhile, Arickaree can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They really took it to Flagler for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-12 victory on the road. With Arickaree ahead 46-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Arickaree's success was spearheaded by the efforts of JAKE KING, who scored 20 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and AUSTIN WRIGHT, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points WRIGHT has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of JORGE RAMOS, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Bethune's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.2 points per game. As for Arickaree, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Bethune have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Arickaree, though, as they've been averaging only 32.6 rebounds per game. Given Bethune's sizeable advantage in that area, Arickaree will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bethune was taken down by Arickaree 54-24 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Will Bethune have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
