Baseball Recap: Morgan Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Morgan won the last time they faced South Summit and things went their way on Thursday too. The Trojans blew past the Wildcats 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Camron Talbot was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Talbot was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Talbot wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Beck Sheffield, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Kanyon Leonelli, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Morgan is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for South Summit, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morgan will welcome Bear River at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Summit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Union at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
