The Westside Rams won against the Sumter Gamecocks on Wednesday with 59 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Westside slipped by Sumter 59-58. With that win, Westside brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Westside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Williams led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The matchup was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Marshall, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The victory (which was Westside's third in a row) raised their record to 6-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Sumter, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Westside and Blythewood will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Blythewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Westside likes a good challenge. Sumter and Lugoff-Elgin will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Lugoff-Elgin is ranked 112th, while Sumter is ranked 92nd).
