The Wardlaw Academy Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the King Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Wardlaw Academy faced Richard Winn Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Wardlaw Academy took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richard Winn Academy.
Despite the defeat, Wardlaw Academy had strong showings from Colt Bailey, who rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and Jesse Cleveland, who rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.0 yards per carry.
King Academy fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Community Christian Academy 58-14 on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point King Academy had established a 36 point advantage.
Richard Winn Academy's victory bumped their season record to 8-1 while Wardlaw Academy's loss dropped theirs to 6-3.
Wardlaw Academy strolled past King Academy in their previous meeting back in August by a score of 28-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wardlaw Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
