Even though the John Adams Academy Patriots scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, the Westlake Charter Explorers still came out on top. Westlake Charter strolled past John Adams Academy with points to spare, taking the game 80-65. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Westlake Charter.
Westlake Charter found their leader in underclassman Quinones Fleeton, who scored 29 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Brian Ash, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why John Adams Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaiah McKee. Despite the final result, he scored 38 points along with six steals and two blocks. That was a full 58.5% of John Adams Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Harris, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
The win got Westlake Charter back to even at 8-8. As for John Adams Academy, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for John Adams Academy, they will be playing at home against Westlake Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westlake Charter is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
