The Scotia-Glenville Tartans will square off against the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Scotia-Glenville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Broadalbin-Perth is facing Scotia-Glenville at the wrong time: Scotia-Glenville suffered their first home loss of the season on Thursday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Tartans couldn't push the score so high this time.
Keeley Kristel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emily Martin was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Broadalbin-Perth had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over Gloversville on Wednesday. The Patriots not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 14-2).
Adrianna Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Smith was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Marley Morin was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kara Weaver, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Broadalbin-Perth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Broadalbin-Perth's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Scotia-Glenville, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4-1.
Everything went Scotia-Glenville's way against Broadalbin-Perth in their previous matchup back in April, as Scotia-Glenville made off with a 16-2 victory. Will the Tartans repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
