Softball Recap: Neches' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Neches came into Tuesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by an 18-2 margin over the Wells Pirates on Tuesday. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Joely Jenkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jenkins was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Aubrey Kincade was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Kacie Trimble was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Neches always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .955. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Neches' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Wells, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6-1.

Neches will have a chance to go back-to-back against Wells: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
