Baseball Game Preview: Bullard Panthers vs. Tatum Eagles

The Bullard Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Tatum Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bullard will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

While Bullard's victory against Hudson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers skirted past the Hornets 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted against the Hornets since March 23, 2021.

Jackson Holt looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bullard's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Roberts, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Roberts has posted since back in March. Atley Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Tatum unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of New Diana by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, Tatum couldn't push the score so high this time.

Bullard's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tatum, their loss dropped their record down to 19-7.

Bullard took their win against Tatum in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
