If The Yucaipa Thunderbirds were riding high off their 30-0 takedown of the Redlands Terriers last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Yucaipa took a 32-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cajon. It was the first time this season that Yucaipa let down their fans at home.
Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Valles , who threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Ortiz , who picked up 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Yucaipa's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Cajon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Yucaipa will head out on the road to face off against Citrus Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cajon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beaumont at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
