The Westminster Christian Academy Lions lost against the Piedmont Academy Cougars back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Westminster Christian Academy fell 51-40 to Piedmont Academy. While losing is never fun, Westminster Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while Piedmont Academy is ranked 126th).
Marissa Holder was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds for Piedmont Academy. Holder has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Teagan Satterfield, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Westminster Christian Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Piedmont Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Westminster Christian Academy will head out on the road to challenge Gatewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. George's at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully St. George's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Tuesday.
