Basketball Game Preview: Seton Hall Prep Pirates vs. Gill St. Bernard's Knights

The Seton Hall Prep Pirates will head out to face off against the Gill St. Bernard's Knights at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Seton Hall Prep sitting on four straight victories and Gill St. Bernard's on three.

While Seton Hall Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Columbia 71-48 on Saturday. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 23 points or more this season.

Seton Hall Prep relied on the efforts of Anthony Gonzalez, who posted 18 points along with five assists and five steals, and Dylan Guzzardo, who earned 23 points and six rebounds. The game was Guzzardo's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Klimas, who had two points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Gill St. Bernard's hadn't done well against St. Benedict's Prep recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Gill St. Bernard's had just enough and edged St. Benedict's Prep out 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since January 25th.

Seton Hall Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Gill St. Bernard's, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Seton Hall Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Gill St. Bernard's in their previous meeting back in February of 2016, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seton Hall Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
