It was another big night for Dekar Moultry, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 13 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Phonie Simpkins, who went 6-for-10 en route to 18 points.
Eastmoor Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, River Valley entered their tilt with Cristo Rey on Saturday with 13 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 14. They really took it to the Cougar for the full four quarters, racking up a 91-25 victory. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 24 points or more this season.
Eastmoor Academy better focus on containing Sawyer Weston and Chase Smith as the pair were huge in River Valley's win. Weston went 10-for-14 to rack up 21 points in addition to six assists and four steals, while Smith went 8-for-12 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%). Chase Ebert was another key player, going 5-for-7 en route to 10 points and five assists.
River Valley pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.2 points over those games. As for Eastmoor Academy, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Eastmoor Academy and River Valley are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Eastmoor Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.2 points per game. However, it's not like River Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 69.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Eastmoor Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against River Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2019, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastmoor Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
