Clay is 0-4 against Southview since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Clay Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Southview Cougars at 7:15 p.m. Clay is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Clay earned a 45-35 victory over Springfield. The win was just what Clay needed coming off of a 90-61 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Southview entered their tilt with Bowling Green with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Southview walked away with a 62-52 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday. Given Southview's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Bowling Green is ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clay now has a winning record of 4-3. Southview's record now sits at 4-1.
Things could have been worse for Clay, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-44 loss to Southview when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Clay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
