The Eureka Loggers will head out on the road to face off against the McKinleyville Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Wednesday, Eureka ended up a good deal behind the Tigers and lost 67-49. Eureka has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Eureka might have lost, but man, Julian Goodman was a machine: he scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jahmil Rippy, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, McKinleyville struggled with assists on Friday (the Tigers had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. McKinleyville lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 59-44 margin.
Flynn Creighton put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bode Douglass, who scored 11 points.
Eureka has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for McKinleyville, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Eureka have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like McKinleyville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Eureka came up short against the Panthers when the teams last played back in January, falling 49-41. Can Eureka avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
