Indian Creek is a perfect 5-0 against Toronto since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Redskins are taking a road trip to take on the Red Knights at 5:00 p.m. Indian Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Indian Creek and Wheeling Park, and Wheeling Park kept the tradition alive. The Redskins took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Monday.
Riley Sadler and Emma Vok stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sadler got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Vok went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Toronto). They put the hurt on Heartland Christian with a sharp 29-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Red Knights have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Madison Asafailo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with five RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Toronto got a massive performance out of Laney Danko, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. JJ Rebich was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Toronto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Toronto's record is now 8-9. As for Indian Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Indian Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Toronto struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Indian Creek took their win against Toronto when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
