The North Creek Jaguars will take on the Inglemoor Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. North Creek hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
North Creek took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They skirted past Mount Si 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.
Jack Cochran tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, North Creek's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Christopherson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That's the most hits Christopherson has posted since back in May of 2024.
Inglemoor never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mercer Island on Monday. They put the hurt on the Islanders with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Henry Kresken spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. Those hits marked the first that he allowed this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Braedan Howe, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Inglemoor's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Benjamin Koppes, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
North Creek's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Inglemoor, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-4.
North Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Inglemoor when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
