Bishop Lynch is on a six-game streak of home losses, Nolan Catholic a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Bishop Lynch Friars will take on the Nolan Catholic Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-21, which was the final score in Bishop Lynch's tilt against Prestonwood Christian on Friday. Bishop Lynch was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Despite the loss, Bishop Lynch saw an underclassman step up: Legend Howell threw for 305 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Ishmael Muhammad, who picked up 177 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Nolan Catholic was beaten by Parish Episcopal 56-13 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Nolan Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 883rd, while Parish Episcopal is ranked 99th).
The losing side was boosted by Carter Devero, who threw for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
The losses dropped Bishop Lynch to 1-8 and Nolan Catholic to 0-8.
Bishop Lynch came up short against Nolan Catholic when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 27-21. Thankfully for Bishop Lynch, DK Smittick (who rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
