It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Santa Rosa Lions had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Loving at home to the tune of 57-15. The win was familiar territory for Santa Rosa who now have nine in a row.
Santa Rosa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nicolas Chavez, who rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Chavez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Romo, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Loving's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bobby Parraz, who gained 162 total yards.
Santa Rosa pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.8 points per game. As for Loving, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
Santa Rosa will head out on the road to face off against Texico at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Texico is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Loving does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
