Ysleta has gone a perfect 3-0 against Irvin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. Ysleta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Ysleta got the win against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy by a conclusive 12-2. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
Dahlia Ornelas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Ornelas was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Ysleta got a massive performance out of Cienna Hernandez, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and one triple while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Savannah Jurado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI.
Ysleta lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Irvin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 19-5 to Austin.
Kimberly De La Torre was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Mia Gonzales was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Ysleta now has a winning record of 14-13-1. As for Irvin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ysleta has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .524. However, it's not like Irvin struggles in that department as they've averaged .518. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ysleta's way against Irvin in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Ysleta made off with a 17-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
